This document sets out the terms of the Agreement between the Beekeeper and the Property Owner This Agreement follows the satisfactory completion of the enclosed Risk Assessment and allows the beekeeper Peter H Armitage of 25 Woodlands Walk, Harrogate HG2 7BB to keep up to ?? colonies of bees in hives at the location detailed above and agreed by me/us . . . . . . . . . the owner/s of the property situated at the address above. I/We agree to allow the beekeeper regular access to monitor the progress and health of the bees along with their production of honey. I/We understand that the honey, the bees and the hives remain the property of the beekeeper. Traditionally the rent is a 1lb jar of honey per hive per year. Access for traditional hives is normally required at least once a week during the busy season ( March to October) and less during the remainder of the year. The beekeeper is quite willing to try and co-ordinate his visits so that you are able to observe the management and working of the hives and their colonies of bees. The Warré hive management is a lot less intrusive.  If you want to observe when a hive is being opened a veil can be supplied. If you would like a greater degree of involvement advice can be given as to the use and types of clothing, tools etc. required and training in the management of a colony as well as the purchase of hives. A lot of information about the bees and their activity can be gained by simply observing their coming and going either at the entrance or through the viewing window at the rear. You may wish to speak to your doctor or a pharmacist regarding the treatment of bee stings. The beekeeper cannot be held responsible if someone gets stung and expects the landowner to be aware of the content of the Risk Assessment and any identified measures to improve safety. I /We understand that the hives should not be opened if the beekeeper is not present. I/We also understand that it is our duty to inform visitors to our premises of the presence of the hives and to control access to them by visitors and pets and children etc. Should either party wish to cease this agreement the beekeeper agrees to remove the hives within seven days of such a request being made. The landowner agrees to allow access for the beekeeper to remove his hives.
